At Sea Street we are experts at printing according to many different methods. These include spot-plate prints, indexed color, discharge printing, and four-color process prints.
Many customers prefer water-based inks as they are soft to the touch, unlike petroleum-based inks. Our inks will never crack or peel off the garment.
Why do most other printers use plastisol, or petroleum-based, inks?
Convenience. Petroleum-based inks can be left in screens for days, even weeks, without any clean-up. Water-based inks, on the other hand, must be cleaned out of screens on a daily basis. These inks are made primarily of water and if left in a screen for too long a time, they will dry—ruining the screen.
However, petroleum-based inks require solvents (which are potentially hazardous to the environment) to clean the screens. These solvents require rags, which must then be recycled or thrown into the trash. Water-based inks do not require solvents; they clean out with water, bypassing applications of chemicals.
Sea Street works with state-of-the-art equipment and has the capacity to print with one to ten colors; but don't let that limit your imagination—we can make ten colors look like a million. We can print runs as small as 48 shirts, or thousands.
